The Years Shall Run Like Rabbits

Artwork by Donna Jiang

The years shall run like rabbits. For in my arms I hold the flower of the ages and the first love of the world.
— W. H. Auden "As I Walked Out One Evening"
I’ll love you till the ocean is folded and hung up to dry
And the seven stars go squawking like geese about the sky.
— W. H. Auden "As I Walked Out One Evening"
In headaches and in worry vaguely life leaks away
And Time will have his fancy
To-morrow or to-day
— W. H. Auden "As I Walked Out One Evening"
It was late, late in the evening,
The lovers they were gone;
The clocks has ceased their chiming,
And the deep river went on.
— W. H. Auden "As I Walked Out One Evening"

This series of artworks are from one of the art challenges I did on instagram, and it is called “Action and Flowers”.

All the “Actions” I drew were ones that inspired me a lot, They remind me of the presence of time and how everything takes time and practices: stage performance, skateboarding, Taekwando, playing music, cycling, positive self talk, and even learning how to blow a bubblegum. Drawing these blooming flowers with powerful “actions” really empowered me throughout this school year, and I hope that you can feel the same way too when looking at them :)

Carpe Diem!

O look, look in the mirror,
O look in your distress:
life remains a blessing
Although you cannot bless.
